Get out of your foundation rut with these quick tips!

are you in a foundation rut

Are you feeling like you are in a foundation and skincare rut? Before you run out and purchase a new foundation, try these things first!

1. Concentrate on using a good for your skin primer.

What does this mean? It means a primer that is actually beneficial for your skin. If your skin isn’t in good condition, whatever you put on top of it is only going to amplify that. Unfortunately a lot of the products that are marketed as a primer are silicone based. It makes sense that silicone can make your skin appear smoother at first. But after continual wear these products can actually damage your skin and could potentially be dangerous to your health.

A few of our favorite clean and sustainable primers are:

2. Less is more.

Try using a concealer and blending it sparingly as a foundation. You will want to use a concealer that is moisturizing and blends easily. Most concealers are made to do this because of the texture under the delicate eye area. A few of our favorites are:

3. Skip the powder.

As we age powder can settle in the lines and accentuate texture. Try using a setting spray instead. You want to use one without alcohol and artificial fragrance. We love a glycerin based spray because its going to add and retain moisture in your skin. One of our favorites is the rosewater and glycerin spray ( it can be used as a primer and a setting spray). You can always DIY and make your own. Two that we highly recommend:

4. Cream blush blends better than powder blush.

Cream blush can be such a great brightner for all ages, skin tones, and textures. It will especially be good for people that have texture in their skin. It blends beautifully and you can even purchase formulas that are meant for eyes, lips, and cheeks for those that love minimal products. The top two that we recommend:

5. Don't forget to exfoliate.

If your skin has dead skin build up, no matter what makeup you put on your face your makeup will accentuate the texture. You can use a more traditional exfoliant (manual), or you can use a AHA or Retinol as an exfoliant with your skincare regimen. Two that we love:

6. Don't forget to hydrate.

Drinking enough water is just as important as what you put on your skin when it comes to hydration. Find a glass water bottle that motivates you to drink more! Cheers!!
